Meeting/Event Information

The Oklahoma City Chapter of the OSCPA provides quality continuing education courses and networking opportunities in a variety of Oklahoma City locations and live streaming online. 

We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month except for June and December. 

All meetings are held in person and streamed live online. In-person meetings include lunch and networking before the presentation begins. One hour of CPE credit is presented at each luncheon, partial or nano credits are not offered during one hour luncheons. 

All-day seminars are held in September and November. Two hours of Ethics are offered in one of the Fall CPE seminars. 

Prepaid Membership includes all meeting fees. Pre-registration is required for each session you choose to attend for CPE credit tracking and so we know whether to expect you in person or online.

Presentation:  Lessons from Oklahoma's Single Audit Report An Update from State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd

Presentation Objectives:

  1. Compliance issues and possible misappropriation uncovered in the most recent Single Audit Report, which covered expenditures from FY2023 
  2. A recap of the most significant findings from Auditor Byrd’s tenure as State Auditor 
  3. Review findings including misappropriation of public funds, accountability in school financing, and compliance requirements for federal expenditures

Speaker Bio: Cindy Byrd is a 1997 graduate of ECU where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.  She became a Certified Public Accountant in 2003. She began her career in government auditing in 1997 and has 28 years of experience in the field. Throughout her tenure, she has conducted various audits across Oklahoma, identifying millions in misappropriated and wasted public funds. 

In 2019, Byrd became Oklahoma’s 13th State Auditor and Inspector, notable for being the first woman elected to this position.  She was re-elected in 2022. In 2023, while serving as Auditor in her second term, she received the Dr. Tom Coburn Transparency in Government Award, of which she is very proud.  Her current term ends on January 11, 2027.  Byrd has been quoted saying, “I believe people own the government and government entities are just stewards of the people’s checkbook.  And my role is to go and make sure those checkbooks are in order.”

In January 2025, she announced her candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma.  She hopes to continue her efforts to make government more accountable and better for all Oklahomans. Byrd was born and raised in Coalgate, Oklahoma the daughter of Archie and Mary Eddings.  She graduated from Coalgate High School and currently resides in Coalgate with her husband, Steve.

CPE Credits are based on a 50-minute hour. Partial or nano credits are not offered for this course. State boards of accounting have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Attendees accept responsibility to determine if the course meets acceptable guidelines set forth by their reporting authority. Complaints regarding any CPE presentation should be directed to [email protected].

For CPE Eligibility Zoom participants must use the Zoom App or Zoom Desktop and answer the polling questions. In person attendees must sign in at the registration table and have a valid email on file to receive your CPE certificate.
