Meeting/Event Information

The Oklahoma City Chapter of the OSCPA provides quality continuing education courses and networking opportunities in a variety of Oklahoma City locations and live streaming online. 

We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month except for June and December. 

All meetings are held in person and streamed live online. In-person meetings include lunch and networking before the presentation begins. One hour of CPE credit is presented at each luncheon, partial or nano credits are not offered during one hour luncheons. 

All-day seminars are held in September and November. Two hours of Ethics are offered in one of the Fall CPE seminars. 

Prepaid Membership includes all meeting fees. Pre-registration is required for each session you choose to attend for CPE credit tracking and so we know whether to expect you in person or online.

Presentation: Fundamental Principles of Insurance

Presented By: Gary Liles and Bobby Young, Rich & Cartmill

As a result of participating in this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Understand basic maxims of insurance policies
  2. Understand the differences between occurrence liability coverage and claims made liability coverage regarding professional liability
  3. What to do if your insurance claim is denied

Speaker Bio: Gary Liles, Vice President of Rich & Cartmill, Inc., is a 1980 graduate of Oklahoma State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. He began his insurance career in 1980 as a Bond Underwriter for the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company in Oklahoma City. In 1982, he joined a large national brokerage firm specializing in providing surety bonds and outsourced risk management/insurance products, primarily for the transportation and construction industries.

Gary joined Rich & Cartmill, Inc. in 2019 and became a Partner/Shareholder in 2021. He has been active in the insurance industry serving on various boards and committees, including the CNA PACER Council, the United Fire Group Surety Agency Alliance Board and the CompSource Mutual Insurance Company Agent Advisory Council. With over 1,000 hours of continuing education, Gary has earned numerous professional designations including the Certificate in General Insurance, Certified Insurance Counselor, Certified Risk Manager, and Certified Workers’ Compensation Advisor. In 2022, Gary was selected as the Agent of the Year by the Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma.

Gary is also active in various construction trade associations, including the Association of General Contractors (AGC), the Oklahoma Municipal Contractors Association (OMCA), the American Subcontractors Association (ASA), the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). Gary and his wife, Laura, live in Edmond, are the parents of five grown kids, four grandchildren (and one on the way), and have been actively involved in Faith Bible Church for over 25 years.

Bobby graduated from the University of Oklahoma (BBA) in December 1973.  Upon graduation, he served four years in the Air Force as a Titan II Deputy Missile Combat Crew Commander and Instructor. During that time he earned his Master’s Degree in Business Operations Management. After the Air Force, Bobby accepted an invitation from his father-in-law, Tom Webb, to join the family insurance agency, which was started by his wife’s grandfather, Elwen H. Boese, in 1947. In 1980, the agency name was changed to Webb, Young & Webb, Inc.  Later, Bobby became President of the agency. The agency joined Rich & Cartmill, Inc in January, 2019.

Bobby has focused on a variety of businesses over the years including, utility and specialty contractors, public and private schools, non-profit organizations, property owners, municipalities and counties and various services industries. Bobby has served on several insurance advisory panels, including CompSource, Hanover, and C.N.A. where he was the Oklahoma Chairman. He has also served on the Executive Committees of the IIAA of Greater Oklahoma City. His designations include CIC and Master Work Comp Advisor.  

 He and his wife, Dianne, have two daughters, Kelli and Kim, along with six grandchildren. Bobby and his wife have been long-time active members of Crossings Community Church.

CPE Credits are based on a 50-minute hour. State boards of accounting have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Attendees accept responsibility to determine if the course meets acceptable guidelines set forth by their reporting authority. Complaints regarding any CPE presentation should be directed to [email protected].

For CPE Eligibility Zoom participants must use the Zoom App or Zoom Desktop and answer the polling questions. In person attendees must sign in at the registration table and have a valid email on file to receive your CPE certificate.
